Get a hookah in Osaka
Hafez is a cosy Persian restaurant in Namba, Osaka offering a nice selection of middle eastern dishes like falaffel, kebabs, chips (err..), feta cheese etc.
The food was reasonably priced considering it’s specialty cusine but expect Japanese size portions. There’s a wide selection of delicious food and the attentive owner provides good service.
A couple of unique points of this place are that you can see a belly dancer twice a month on Fridays, and for 700 you can get yourself a hookah to puff on while enjoying the ambience of special guest live music (the night I went two Japanese hippies chilled out with a digiridoo, jaw harp and some throat singing followed by a ambientish set from a Japanese DJ) and various other decorative paraphenialia from the middle east. There’s also a party space rental service if you want to entertain your friends.
